ASC842, IFRS16 and Estimating Incremental Borrowing Rate with LeaseSCRE

At A&M's signature annual professional development symposium, Chandu Chilakapati, Managing Director in the firm's Valuation Services division, discussed how LeaseSCRE will greatly assist companies in calculating their IBR curve in compliance with ASC 842.

Video Transcript:

The new lease accounting standards require companies to come up with an incremental borrowing rate.

The most important thing in borrowing rates or in getting loans is: What is your credit rating, and how creditworthy are you?

So we used leaseSCRE; we combine that with a back-end database that we've been building for years.

This is the first product of its kind at A&M where users go to the website, and there's no human interaction. We are selling the entire service online, and every public company and private company that has leases can use it.

We are very hopeful that every company will use it.

Chandu Chilakapati is one of the founders of LeaseSCRE, a machine-learning software that estimates a company's incremental borrowing rate. LeaseSCRE costs a fraction of third- party advisory services for IBR methodology and modeling, and with machine learning, it is a more accurate tool for estimating credit ratings to derive the related IBR.
