Matson Blocker is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s U.S. Energy practice in Houston.

Mr. Blocker brings more than 33 years of experience in business transformation within the energy, chemicals, and natural resources industries. He focuses on IT strategy, global program management and operations improvement for downstream and chemicals organizations.

Mr. Blocker has led multiple business transformation initiatives including mergers and acquisitions, large scale carve-outs, strategic SG&A cost reductions, and brownfield and greenfield SAP programs.

Mr. Blocker’s notable recent assignments include IT carve-out for a global petroleum company, cloud-SCADA migration for a global mining company, IT outsourcing for a major electrical products distributor, rapid cost-reduction for a global mining company, integration support for a North American chemical organization, and IT strategic planning for the downstream operations of a global super major.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Blocker spent 27 years with Accenture in Houston, serving most recently as a Managing Director. He led the development of the Maintenance and Reliability practice and focused on implementing operational improvements for oil and gas and chemical clients.

Mr. Blocker earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from LSU. He is a member of the Society for Maintenance and Reliability Professionals and the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
