Richard Hell
With more than 28 years in automotive, aerospace and defense, and rail and industrial products, Mr. Hell is an expert in product development, operations and quality improvement, launch and crisis management, and digitalization. He has worked with executive teams and c-level management in Asia, Europe and North America on complex performance transformations and high impact technical crisis situations. His operational experience in the industry as plant manager and industrialization lead gives him a holistic view of operational transformations and large-scale ramp up programs.
Mr. Hell also has strong experience in technical risk assessments and technical problem-solving projects mitigation short and long term financial and technical risks of new product introductions. He has managed multiple product cost reduction and design efforts in various industries and supplier recovery programs to reinstate delivery performance and product quality.
Mr. Hell’s recent engagements include acting as interim site managing director of a large European train manufacturing plant to transform the operation performance of the critical project site in terms of quality, on time delivery and costs. He also managed complex automotive launches of battery electrical vehicles across OEM and suppliers for electrical drive trains, batteries and wire harnesses. Mr. Hell was responsible for footprint design and optimization projects for OEMs and suppliers as well as multi-site operations improvement projects.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Hell worked with Oliver Wyman as global Automotive Lead and Head of Oliver Wyman Engineers. Previously, he was Managing Partner and CEO of Shainin, a global specialist consulting firm providing complex technical problem solving and operations improvement. Previously, Mr. Hell worked for IBM in the U.S. in their industry solutions business and emerging business opportunities. Before that, he held executive leadership positions for Mercedes-Benz and DaimlerChrysler in technology and operations in Germany, US and Asia. He started his professional career with Rodenstock in Germany and Thailand.
Mr. Hell earned an engineering degree in electrical engineering (industrial automation and robotics concentration) from the University of Regensburg, Germany. He is fluent in German and English.
