Claire Murray
With more than 20 years of experience, Ms. Murray delivers employment tax technical advice, supports businesses with their compliance obligations, and offers practical and pragmatic solutions. Her key projects include commercial reorganisations, including due diligence; employment status and IR35 compliance reviews; cross border redundancy programs; complex multi-jurisdictional disclosures; assessment of governance and compliance procedures; pay, expense and benefit reviews; and policy, process and controls design.
Ms. Murray has worked with clients in various industries, including consumer markets, life sciences and energy. Most recently, she has focussed on financial services and fintech, from fast-growing entrepreneurial businesses to established multinational corporations.
Prior to joining A&M, Ms. Murray spent ten years with BDO LLP, serving most recently as Employment Tax Director in the Global Employer Services team in the U.K. She led on tax assurance and SAO obligations for PAYE, supported clients through His Majesty’s Revenue and Custom interventions and disclosures, advised on the implementation of tax effective solutions, and gave clients practical employment tax and social security advice.
Previously, Ms. Murray worked in industry and the Big Four.
Ms. Murray earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Anglia Ruskin University. She is the editor of the chapter on director’s remuneration in Tolley’s Tax Planning. Ms. Murray is professionally qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA).
