Ian Donner is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s Healthcare Industry Group in Washington, D.C. Mr. Donner is a healthcare leader in IT strategy and business transformation. He brings more than 15 years of healthcare consulting experience and specializes in strategic, high value IT advisory services. His primary areas of concentration are strategy and operations, strategic planning, IT cost optimization, complex transformations and due diligence.

Mr. Donner’s work has spanned across the healthcare continuum, including IT and business transformation, strategic market definition and expansion, operational improvement and performance management, and technology enablement. He also has extensive healthcare knowledge and expertise in commercial markets and government programs. His executive leadership experience includes working with national and international healthcare organizations, large multi-market health plans and unique high-growth startups.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Donner spent more than three years with Anthem, Inc, where he most recently served as Vice President of IT Business Relationship Management and Service Transformation. He was responsible for transforming the IT department (pre- and post-merger) and designing and implementing a new business relationship management function. He also executed new governance and enterprise demand management processes inclusive of enterprise change management, annual planning and executive IT governance. These management responsibilities represent $75 million in operating expenditures and $35 million in capital expenditures.

While at Anthem, Mr. Donner also led claims and a clinical platform assessment to determine future claim and clinical platforms, inclusive of investment and implementation roadmaps, consolidating multiple legacy systems into single future capability. The assessment resulted in funding for multi-year, multi-million dollar strategic investments for the enterprise, with responsibility to lead the implementation.

Before Anthem, Mr. Donner held a variety of IT strategy consulting positions at Optimity Advisors, Baker Tilly, Accenture and CGI.

Mr. Donner earned a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems from James Madison University and a master’s degree in government from Johns Hopkins University. He is a Project Management Institute (PMI) certified project management professional (PMP).
