Kumanan Ramanathan
Mr. Ramanathan has deep experience of cash and working capital management, FP&A, asset sale transactions and M&A processes, contingency planning, cost optimization, business planning, transformation and financial re-organizations. He has worked on a significant number of in-court and out-of-court restructurings in the United States and Canada.
Mr. Ramanathan currently serves as financial advisor to the FTX Debtor group (FTX Trading Ltd, Alameda Research LLC and its affiliated debtors) during its chapter 11 restructuring proceedings. He has significant industry expertise with cryptocurrency and digital assets. Recently, Mr. Ramanathan assisted Gibson Brands, Inc., the iconic American guitar company, through its successful $500 million restructuring, leading liquidity, business planning and refinancing efforts. A&M’s work with Gibson received Transaction of the Year (mid-size) from the Turnaround Management Association.
Mr. Ramanathan's other notable engagements include company-side mandates for Endo Pharmaceuticals ($8 billion restructuring); Dunn Paper, Inc. ($400 million out-of-court restructuring); Philadelphia Energy Solutions ($1.75 billion restructuring); a large North American tire distributor; a U.S. off-price retailer with 200+ stores; a mid-size US seafood producer; M&G Chemicals ($1.7 billion restructuring); Liberty Tire Recycling ($300 million out of court restructuring); USA Discounters, Ltd (U.S.-retailer and subprime lender); a $2.2 billion power and utilities company; LifeLabs (OMERS) in their $1.2 billion acquisition of CML Healthcare (buy-side); and Great Basin Gold Ltd (CCAA Monitor).
Mr. Ramanathan earned a bachelor's degree in commerce from the University of Toronto. He holds a CA, CPA designation and is a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.
