Martin Bell
Mr. Bell has advised global international oil companies (IOCs), national oil companies (NOCs), mid-caps, and investors on upstream strategy, transformation, and value delivery. His work spans portfolio optimization, development strategy, operational performance improvement, post-merger integration, and operating model design across offshore deepwater, North Sea, and onshore unconventional assets. Mr. Bell brings deep petroleum engineering technical credibility across the full upstream value chain, including petroleum development and mechanical engineering, subsurface and surface engineering, wells, facilities, operations, commercial strategy, and finance.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Bell spent six years leading BCG’s Upstream practice in Madrid and then Calgary, building close C-suite relationships with executives at the world’s largest IOCs and NOCs. In this role, he led transformational engagements spanning the full breadth of upstream challenges: full organizational restructuring and capability transformation, large-scale performance improvement and operational excellence programs, portfolio rationalization and strategic repositioning, production and operations optimization, supply chain and cost transformation, new technology evaluation and deployment, decommissioning strategy, and technical capability development and realization. His advisory relationships extended to both operators and service providers globally, where he helped clients navigate strategic evolution, navigate complex commercial dynamics, and drive sustainable competitive advantage through technical and operational innovation.
Before that, Mr. Bell served first as Chief Development Officer and later as CFO with Tulip Oil in the Netherlands, scaling the company from a four-man start-up to a 24,000 BOE/D, 120-person, cash flow–generating producer in six years prior to sale. Mr. Bell began his career with Shell, where he spent 14 years progressing through senior technical and commercial roles, working across Iraq, South Africa, the Netherlands, Canada, Oman, and the US.
Mr. Bell earned a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Southampton University, UK, and is fluent in English, Spanish, and French.
