Marc Yamada
With over 25 years of experience leading global transformations for automotive and industrial clients, Mr. Yamada has extensive experience across the automotive value chain, including strategic sourcing, market entry, due diligence, managed exits, dealer network optimization, and related cost reduction assessments.
Mr. Yamada’s notable assignments include managing exit support for a leading Japanese automotive original equipment manufacturer (OEM). He also oversaw the restructure of a leading European automotive OEM’s wholesale organization’s independent retail network (120 dealerships spanning 300 outlets), which required evaluating dealerships on both financial and operational KPIs and implementing a revised network to adapt for future retail formats. Further, Mr. Yamada provided sell-side financial advisory support for a leading German OEM in Japan to divest multiple underperforming dealer outlets and service centers within the Kanto and Kansai region over two years. He also provided market entry strategy support and execution for a newly formed joint venture between a Japanese automotive OEM and a technology company, including regional office setup, distribution assessment (under US franchise law), and homologation support. Finally, Mr. Yamada served as an industry expert witness in a litigation/arbitration case between a Japanese automotive OEM and a Kuwaiti distributor.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Yamada spent eight years as a Senior Partner with EY-Parthenon in Tokyo, where he led the Advanced Manufacturing & Mobility sector for Japan, after serving as Global Client Services Partner for Honda and Bridgestone. Previously, he spent eight years with Deloitte Financial Advisory services in Tokyo, where he led the value creation services team for the Asia–Pacific region.
